Operations App Enhancements

Upgrades Abound in 24.7

We missed you last month as we spent the summer hunkered down working on a few large-scale improvements that will be coming your way over the next few months. We hope you’ll be excited about the latest enhancements – we sure are!

Jumping on in to this month’s release – we’ve got lots of features coming your way to enhance your routed workflow and administrative back office operations. More feature parity is making its way into the modern Operations App and we can’t wait for you to check it out. This release has a little bit of something for everyone so let’s get right to it. 🎉

Route Optimization and More! 📍

Efficiency is the name of the game, and we’re helping you fine tune route planning with an enhanced level of route optimization in the Operations App. We’re stoked to roll out the latest iteration of route optimization that provides more accurate ETAs based on street driving paths, versus “as the crow flies” measurements between two address points. These more precise calculations will give way for improved time and distance estimations and refined results for more efficient route planning. You’ll find this feature listed as “Basic Optimization v2” in Tools > Route Optimization for both On Demand and Route services.

In addition to route optimization, we’ve introduced a number of enhancements throughout the routed workflow:

  • Route Chaining Increased Limit

Got drivers with complex itineraries overlapping several routes? A parcel can now be route chained up to 30 stops (increased from the previous maximum limit of 10).

  • Activate/Deactivate All Route Stops

Need an on-off button for your routed work? With new permission-based capabilities, the option to Activate All and Deactivate All stops is now available in the modern Operations App. This feature is available on the Visual Dispatch Board route manifest, Active Work page, and Routed Shipments tab.

  • Route Status Filter for Active Work

Looking to easily identify your driver's activity? With the newly added Route Status filter, you can filter their work by Open, Completed, or Both on the Visual Dispatch Board's Driver Active Work page.

Coming Soon to the
Modern Operations App 😎

Big news for our First Adopters – we’re seeking beta testers for the

new On Demand Shipments functionality in the modern Operations App!

While we put the finishing touches on shipment and customer record functionality in the web-based platform, we’d love to get some firsthand testing and feedback on the layout and workflow of the new On Demand Shipments form (formerly called the Orders Form).

To get started, submit a ticket to our Support Team requesting access to the On Demand Shipments form for testing. Please note this is only available to First Adopters at this time.

  • Added the permission-based ability to Activate All and Deactivate All stops to Visual Dispatch Board route manifest, Active Work page, and Routed Shipments tab.

  • Performance improvement made to the Visual Dispatch Board, so all display panels (Map, Shipment, and Drivers) will reflect updates made to the Fleet Filter and stay in sync.
  • Implemented the ability for international addresses to be manually entered into the internet user address book, so Client Portal users can place international orders that will rate.
  • Created new address search options for the Operations App order form, so users can now find an address location through Google Places search, Drop a Pin, Location or Lookup Barcode Scan, and manual entry in addition to the standard address book search.
  • Updated new customer record creation to pull in the credit card payment setting selection from the default customer record, so users do not have to manually make the selection every time.
  • Added the ability to create a new internet user directly from the Customer Record’s Internet Users tab.
  • Performance improvements for Invoice settlement generation.
  • Improved logic for the QuickBooks Online (QBO) Integration to prevent invoices with negative totals from being synced since QBO does not accept negative value invoices.
  • Added new search parameters, “Begins With” and “Exact Match” to the Parcel Portal search feature to increase performance and results accuracy.
  • Improvement to Parcel Portal search performance.
  • Added new icon for the scooter vehicle class on the Visual Dispatch Board.
  • Added a Route Status filter option to the Visual Dispatch Board Driver’s Active Work page, so that dispatchers can filter a driver’s work by Open, Completed, or Both.

What's Fixed 🛠

  • Fixed a visual issue with the Operations Internet User Address Book buttons.
  • Fixed an issue where an error was being thrown when a user deleted all labels from an on demand order.
  • Fixed an issue where the order form might incorrectly warn about empty fields if an unvalidated address was being used on the Client Portal order form.
  • Fixed an issue where the Fleet filter for Shipments was not filtering orders assigned to drivers.
  • Fixed an issue with the base rate quantity of some unrated orders placed through the Client Portal.
  • Fixed an issue with saving edits to the Client Portal Settings if the Chat Widget Integration tab had no customers selected.
  • Fixed an issue with posting recurring orders that could incorrectly mark them as Dispatched when no driver was assigned.
  • Fixed an issue where canceled orders that were missing required fields could not be restored to active status.
  • Fixed an issue where the Visual Dispatch Board might not use the server timezone.
  • Fixed issue when cloning route stops within the classic Operations app.

  • Fixed an issue where the classic Operations App Dispatch Board was not respecting enforced critical dates in a driver’s HR record.

Works in Progress 🏭

  • An unexpected error is received while adding items to an order in the classic Operations App.
Workaround: To avoid this issue, select an item for every row selected on the Order’s Charges tab or select the row headers and completely remove the row created.
  • Subscription-based reports fail to export and generate an email when certain field types like TimeStamp are included.
Workaround: Do not include the TimeStamp field, as it is not supported.
  • Lat/Lon values are not being copied over for cloning of Inet User Address books.
Workaround: Run an Internet User Address Points bulk address update. This will run all the internet addresses through the validation process and assign updated Lat/Lon values.
  • Internet User columns do not always sort as expected in the classic Operations App.
Workaround: Click on any cell besides the header or the column that is selected, then click on the column again to sort in the other order.
  • An error occurs in the Operations App when a user tries to email settlements to drivers that do not have an associated email address and/or settlement message format within their human resources record.
Workaround: Update the driver’s human resource record with an email address and/or settlement message format.
  • Operations Monitor – Help – View Manual results in a run-time error ’13’ type mismatch.

What's Coming 🎁

  • Web-based order forms and customer records in the modern Operations App
  • Automate credit card processing for classic Operations App users
  • Mobile Option Set enhancements to require driver location upon arrival
