Advanced Tracking Management

Ultimate Flexibility with
Unauthenticated Tracking

Is it just us, or is tracking at the root of so many logistics discussions? Where is the easy button for tracking? 🤨

In our solution, of course! We’ve devoted a great deal of development time solidifying extensive tracking options in the backend of our product suite – including parcel tracking for up to 500 parcel barcodes at a time in the Operations App and Client Portal.

Now, we’re leveling up the tracking experience for your consignees and consignors. With new permission-based options introduced in 24.1, you have greater control over what is displayed in the unauthenticated tracking view available through the Client Portal.

Unauthenticated tracking requires no login or user account for the Client Portal. If you and your customers share shipment status alerts and tracking data, then this feature is for you! Want to limit the shipment recipient to only see their shipment destination and current status? Check. ✅ Do you have a client that wants driver tracking available? Also, check. ✅

Let’s dive on in and see how you can maximize unauthenticated tracking to get real-time data into the hands of the customers that need it most.

CXT Software unauthenticated tracking options

Fine-Tune Tracking by Customer

You and your clients can take advantage of having granularity and control of unauthenticated tracking with just a few key settings. Upon upgrade to 24.1, there will not be any visible changes to unauthenticated tracking until you take the wheel. By enabling this permission-based feature in the Client Portal user permissions, you will allow access to modify defaults and create custom settings for this enhanced tracking view.

What is custom you ask? 🤔 It be can as customized as you would like. The ability to create different unauthenticated tracking profiles will now be available to restrict or display additional tracking fields for just a single customer, group of customers, or all customers. The possibilities are endless and you can set up an unlimited number of custom profiles if that level of granularity is needed across your customer base.

Delivery Details Simplified

In today’s data-driven world, shipment recipients – and senders in some cases – need instant access to delivery updates. With the addition of driver tracking as an optional setting, they’ll be able to view the movement of their shipment on a map without being logged in to the Client Portal.

Much like the traditional authenticated tracking display when a user is logged into the Client Portal, unauthenticated users will also have the option to expand their tracking search results to “View Details” on the shipment. The detailed view provides an easy-to-read format when you’ve enabled multiple tracking fields such as POD and attachments, charges, and the driver tracking component.

If your Client Portal is currently white-labeled with your logo, this can be enabled to carry through to your unauthenticated tracking page, allowing for a consistent branded experience. ✨

CXT Software detailed tracking view with driver tracking for unauthenticated users

How it Works

When a shipment is tracked without the viewer being logged in to the Client Portal, our solution will look at the customer record that the shipment is associated with and check to see if they are assigned to any of the custom tracking configuration profiles you’ve set up. If they are, the viewer will be able to see the fields you’ve selected for that particular profile. If they are not, the default display settings will be used. Take a moment to review the default settings to ensure they are in line with the data you would like displayed to unauthenticated users.

SMS shipment notifications are a great compliment to unauthenticated tracking. When a shipping partner or recipient’s phone number is added to a shipment, they will receive an SMS alert with a URL included in the message. From that URL, they will be automatically taken to the unauthenticated tracking page with their respective tracking number executed and displayed on the screen. Easy, seamless tracking!

24.1 Release Updates

This month’s release is loaded with dozens of improvements and fixes. Take a look at what we’re rolling out in 24.1:

What's New 📰

  • Created a new option in the modern Operations App under Client Portal Settings called Tracking Configuration that allows users to configure unauthenticated tracking settings (default and custom) to better control what is displayed to unauthenticated users in the Client Portal.

What's Improved 📈

  • Improved the “Copy To” address feature within the internet user address book when multiple addresses are selected to bring over more field data and display how many addresses are in each address book.
  • Improved performance of Route Tracking within the Client Portal.
  • Improved the Dim Weight display within the classic Operations App > Maintenance > Vehicles.
  • Improvement to add apply the Global Options > Company tab’s “Maximum Image Size” and “Maximum Attachment Size” permissions to the Operations App.
  • Improved route stop data included when stops are created via Route Sort Rules from on-demand orders to now include Address 2 values.
  • Updated the “View Find Filter” link on the Operations Dashboard to display the updated Find query page.
  • Improvement to the Client Portal accessorial item quantity field to not allow users to enter decimals. The field only allows whole numbers to be saved.
  • Added the Signature field back as an available field in message formats using advanced SQL.
  • Improvement made for Microsoft email configuration to add in a key/value pair that will default to Error, but can be set to Warn as needed, in order to reduce unnecessary Loggly errors.
  • Improved the Operation App’s Driver Record to display all available Capabilities on new records, so users no longer have to save the record first in order to see those options.
  • Adjusted the Conversion Wizard to accept column headers with non-matching casing.
  • Renamed ‘View XS Data’ to ‘Miscellaneous Data’ on order, route stop, and contract stop forms and added Alt+Ctrl+M hotkey to improve UX.

What's Fixed 🛠

  • Fixed an issue with how rate charts calculate charges and/or driver pay when entering in overrides on the Base Rate Details tab for the “Use another chart adjusted by percent/amount” chart types.
  • Fixed an issue where inactive drivers were not showing up in the Visual Dispatch Board Active Work driver search.
  • Fixed a rerate issue that was caused by a driver being assigned to an order when their driver percent was set to NULL on the associated driver record.
  • Fixed an issue where an error might be displayed when placing an order without an address 2 line.
  • Fixed a rare issue when processing credit cards with invalid tokens for on-demand orders.
  • Fixed an issue with printing shipping labels in X Internet and the Client Portal if no driver was assigned.
  • Fixed an error with viewing invoices in the Client Portal if there was an order comment longer than 500 characters.
  • Fixed an issue with order type overrides not calculating negative values correctly.
  • Fixed an issue with emailing invoices that could sometimes not attach a file in the classic Operations App.
  • Fixed an issue with Contract Stop email notifications settings being overwritten by the customer profile settings.
  • Fixed an issue with imported stops assigning drivers when there was a conflict within the import vs. what driver was assigned within route planning.
  • Fixed issue with on-demand orders not copying over all comments when using drag and drop to create route stops.
  • Fixed an issue where the Operations App left navigation would not remain collapsed on the Visual Dispatch Board when changing between light and dark mode.
  • Fixed an issue that would report the wrong user in the Audit trail when adding orders to the consolidation manifest if the order was assigned to a fleet that was different than the consolidation manifest.
  • Fixed an issue where users were not able to save an edit to mobile user records after changing the related mobile option set template.
  • Fixed an unexpected error when using apostrophes for a profile name in the Mail Manager.
  • Fixed an issue where capitalization was not occurring after a hyphen in the Contacts fields on the order form.
  • Fixed an error within the advanced find if a single quote is used.
  • Fixed an issue on the on-demand dispatch board that could cause additional pop-up windows when right-clicking.
  • Fixed an issue that was generating an error if two users were attempting to run invoices at the same time.
  • Fixed an issue where users were not able to remove an existing credit card from a customer record if it was marked as the default credit card.

Works in Progress 🏭

  • An invoice will not be generated if the Recurrence Schedule on the associated contract stop has many dates selected.
Workaround: Customers can change the recurrence schedule to use non-specific dates to remedy the issue (example: 1st Monday of every Month, every other week, etc.).
  • A temporary issue is causing invoice emails to not be sent to email addresses listed in the classic Operations App’s Invoice Format “CC Email Address:” field.
Workaround: Email addresses listed in the CC: field will be temporarily mapped to send in the main recipient field, allowing all email addresses to continue to receive invoice emails. No further action from the Operations App user is needed.
  • An unexpected error is received while adding items to an order in the classic Operations App.
Workaround: To avoid this issue, select an item for every row selected on the Order’s Charges tab or select the row headers and completely remove the row created.
  • Subscription-based reports fail to export and generate an email when certain field types like TimeStamp are included.
Workaround: Do not include the TimeStamp field, as it is not supported.
  • Lat/Lon values are not being copied over for cloning of Inet User Address books.
Workaround: Run an Internet User Address Points bulk address update. This will run all the internet addresses through the validation process and assign updated Lat/Lon values.
  • Internet User columns do not always sort as expected in the classic Operations App.
Workaround: Click on any cell besides the header or the column that is selected, then click on the column again to sort in the other order.
  • An error occurs in the Operations App when a user tries to email settlements to drivers that do not have an associated email address and/or settlement message format within their human resources record.
Workaround: Update the driver’s human resource record with an email address and/or settlement message format.
  • Operations Monitor – Help – View Manual results in a run-time error ’13’ type mismatch.

What's Coming 🎁

  • Routed functionality in the revamped Visual Dispatch Board
  • Multi-factor authentication for the Operations App and Client Portal
