Operations App Updates

Improvements to Align with Your Growing Needs

We’re putting the finishing touches on the development year with some highly anticipated functionality. This release is all about more – more visibility, more granularity, more options.

As many of our customers expand their delivery networks into additional industries and markets, the need for enhanced tracking and scanning capabilities has become evident. We want you to be able to do more with your shipment management platform, and we’re happy to roll out some features to help you do just that!

This release is packed with capabilities to improve the workflow in both large enterprises and small carrier operations. Let’s get to the details!

Digging Deeper into Scanning Capability

Visibility into even the smallest of shipments is critical for you as a carrier, but also for your clients and their end-users. With many of our customers catering to industries with sensitive chain of custody needs such as healthcare, the need for an additional layer of tracking was born.

Our latest releases enhance your scanning, tracking, and parcel chaining capabilities with further granularity and accountability for all items in transit with the introduction of parcel item barcodes.

Parcel items can now be associated with barcodes and automatically chained to the parcel it is scanned to for on-demand shipments or nestled under for routed work. Parcel item barcodes are trackable by these individual items, allowing for detailed visibility and full chain of custody reporting for even a single lab specimen.

Operations App Tracking Gets a Boost

Tracking has always been an essential tool in the operational backend. We’re taking it up a notch giving you more parcel-centric functionality in the modern Operations App with the Parcel Portal page.

Designed to match user capabilities in the Client Portal, the newest tracking in the modern Operations App allows you to track up to 500 parcel barcodes at a time. Even better, from this view you can click into a parcel to view details, scan events, POD, related parcel items, and more.

Quick search options allow you to easily view parcel data for the last 15, 50, or 100 scanned on-demand and routed shipments, or you can opt to track based on a variety of fields including location, stop ID, city, and last scan status.

It's All in the Details...

We’ve got even more to share! We aim to constantly evaluate your user experience and deliver fine-tuned features to improve our solutions. Check out a few of the other enhancements coming your way in 23.10:

  • Incoming!

Want to always have the latest shipments at your fingertips? Toggle "Auto Pinning On" to have all incoming shipments automatically pinned to your on-demand Visual Dispatch Board.

  • To Group or Not to Group...

Have a large quantity of shipments in an area but need to see them all individually on your on-demand Visual Dispatch Board? New functionality allows you to switch between grouping and ungrouping pins. Grouped pins show a single pin with a number representing the shipments at a location, while upgrouped pins show all the individual pins at their respective locations. Group and ungroup as you see fit throughout your workday!

  • There's a Chat for That

Looking for ways to improve your client communication? With embedded third-party chat widgets in the Client Portal, your team can easily guide clients through the shipment creation process right from their desktops. Support is currently available for LiveChat, LiveAgent, FreshChat, Olark Chat, and Zendesk.

  • Ambient? Room Temp? We've Got You Covered

An additional refrigeration type has been introduced for clients requiring "Ambient" refrigeration types for both parcel types and parcel items. Frozen, Refrigerated, Room Temperature, and Ambient are now preset refrigeration types to select.

  • Driver Updates on the Way

To roll out the latest scanning and parcel data functionality, a new version of the Driver App will be rolling out mid-November. Make sure to have your drivers update to 3.6 to maximize these features!

23.10 Release Updates

What's New 📰

  • Added the ability for users to now be able to see counts for parcels and parcel items based on temperature on the Visual Dispatch Board. These columns can be shown/hidden as desired.
  • Added Status (Min) as a new column on the Routed Dispatch Board grid.
  • Implemented new settings on the on-demand Visual Dispatch Board for pin grouping and ungrouping in addition to an option for automatically pinning all new orders to the map.
  • Created a new “Parcel Portal” page within the modern Operations App that allows users to track and view the entire life cycle (all scans) for on-demand and routed parcels.
  • Implemented third-party chat widget functionality for the Client Portal.

What's Improved 📈

  • Updated Route Tracking in the Client Portal to display the driver location and the stops on the same map.
  • Converted the drop down menu controls to pinnable icons on the on-demand Visual Dispatch Board to increase data visibility.
  • Added additional logic for driver capabilities, so they will now also be enforced when a capability is added after the driver is already assigned to a job.
  • Added a new saved find called “CXT – Parcel lookup by Route ID and Post Date.”
  • Updated API to allow an option to pass in consolidation text when placing orders to prevent duplications.

What's Fixed 🛠

  • Fixed an issue with the display of the “Find Search” field within Dashboard record drawers.
  • Fixed an issue where an error was being thrown when attempting to export find query results from a find that was not saved yet.
  • Fixed a file naming issue when exporting Finds results within the Operations App.
  • Fixed an issue where the internet user record’s load time was not performant if they were associated with a large number of contract stops.
  • Fixed an issue with parcel assignments that are automatically created via overage scans on stops with chaining being marked as ASN.
  • Fixed issue with the Driver Mobile Options record not updating info within the drawer when manually switching between drivers from the table grid.
  • Fixed issue with the signature images not displaying PNG files in the Operations App or Client Portal.
  • Fixed an issue with the character display in message formats for [POD] value.

Works in Progress 🏭

  • Assignments are not created for route stop parcels created in the modern Operations App’s Parcel Portal.
  • Required count parcels might show up incorrectly in the modern Operations App’s Parcel Portal reports due to wrong assignment type.
  • An unexpected error is received while adding items to an order in the classic Operations App.
Workaround: To avoid this issue, select an item for every row selected on the Order’s Charges tab or select the row headers and completely remove the row created.
  • Subscription-based reports fail to export and generate an email when certain field types like TimeStamp are included.
Workaround: Do not include the TimeStamp field, as it is not supported.
  • Lat/Lon values are not being copied over for cloning of Inet User Address books.
Workaround: Run an Internet User Address Points bulk address update. This will run all the internet addresses through the validation process and assign updated Lat/Lon values.
  • Internet User columns do not always sort as expected in the classic Operations App.
Workaround: Click on any cell besides the header or the column that is selected, then click on the column again to sort in the other order.
  • An error occurs in the Operations App when a user tries to email settlements to drivers that do not have an associated email address and/or settlement message format within their human resources record.
Workaround: Update the driver’s human resource record with an email address and/or settlement message format.
  • Operations Monitor – Help – View Manual results in a run-time error ’13’ type mismatch.

What's Coming in 2024 🎁

  • Unauthenticated tracking in the Client Portal
  • Multi-factor authentication for the Operations App and Client Portal
  • Routed functionality in the updated Visual Dispatch Board
